Guide To Above Ground Drainage

'Drainage', doesn't the word itself send a line of tension on your forehead? All you start thinking of is the stench, the sight of blockage and the expense of getting it cleaned up. And now that we are dealing with above ground drainage, it means an additional nuisance to the sight as well as the nostrils. The best people to speak about Above ground drainage would be the ones who have had a first hand experience with flooded basements, wet yards and malfunctioned septic systems. The trouble they go through getting the water logged area clean and free of the drainage is horrifying.

The reason these folks face this issue is because the rain water from the roof, patios and driveways carry soil from bare spots in the yards into culverts, roadside ditches and even waterways. And since there is no outlet for such trapped water it adversely affects the drainage systems. The water gets stored on the surface and does not get absorbed which in turn results in muddy and messy state of affairs. Then come rounds of drainage repair workers who charge exorbitantly (obviously, since taking out the muggy muddle is no joke and requires more than a handful) and you get your wallet cleaned up along with your yard. So, the question arises is how do you save this expenditure and trouble altogether before it crops up? All you need to do is pay attention to the following details well in advance and you will be on the safer side always.

The repair works

The solution to this is mainly handled by improving the following:
1) Soil and Waste ventilating Stacks.
2) Waste and overflow systems.
3) Rain water Guttering system.

These in all include; Pipes and fittings, WC Connectors, water traps to all appliances, industrial and domestic systems. Apart from upgrading the given systems there are a few more steps of cautions which should be adhered, to avoid the problem altogether. First is that the ground elevation around the house should be a minimum of 18 inches higher than the street. Secondly, the soil around the house should be graded so that it slopes away from the house. Restricting heavy foot traffic on your wet lawn will help a great deal in soil compaction. In short you would have to take up several practical steps to ensure slow flow of water. Keep that in mind and working and get yourself a no Above ground drainage trouble.
